A series of pictures detailing the airworthy Bristol M1c based at Old Warden. This aircraft is actually a reproduction built exactly according to the original production drawings. It is fitted with an original rotary engine. These pictures were taken at a time when the engine cowling and spinner had been removed to allow maintenance work to be done on the engine. The Bristol M1c was a British monoplane fighter produced during the First World War when monoplanes were viewed as unsafe and inferior to biplanes. Despite it's excellent performance the Bristol M1c was rejected for service on the Western Front and was flown operationally by the Royal Flying Corps in Mesopotamia. Many were also used at home as advanced fighter trainers.
